x-Ray Branding & Chrome Extension

Bridging Small Businesses and Events for Seamless Growth.

Evendoor is an app that connects event organizers and small business owners to extend opportunities for owners to vendor and organizers to host a thriving event.

As the UX Designer, I was responsible for conducting user research, building IA and wireframe, designing style guide, and prototyping.

x-Ray Commerce, a Dallas-Fort Worth startup, specializes in AI services to optimize e-commerce product listings, helping users stand out in competitive marketplaces.

The company recently pursued a major rebrand, from its identity to products like a Chrome extension, aiming for a logo that reflects its mission of delivering clarity and objective insights while expanding platform support to eBay and Poshmark.

As the design lead, I was responsible for the branding and collaborated with UX designers to launch the website. I enhanced the brand identity by creating style guidelines for digital marketing, including logo design, color palette, custom typography, image composition, scalability, and website UX, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring the vision to life.

Small business owners (SBO) often miss out on local event opportunities because information is scattered and hard to find. They spend too much time searching across different platforms, and it's difficult to connect with event organizers (EO). At the same time, organizers struggle to find reliable vendors.

Our Evendoor app will let small business owners easily find and join local events, which will affect how they connect with event organizers and promote their business by giving them the ability to access event opportunities in one centralized hub. We will measure effectiveness by tracking the number of successful vendor-event matches and user engagement with event listings.

We conducted 10 interviews, 5 with event organizers and 5 with small business owner. Interviews revealed key pain points about our two target user groups. Then we create Storyboard to focus on the most critical need.

Rookie + Seasoned Business Owners: Promoting their business at events affords exposure, allowing for a larger customer base. They often have trouble finding events that they can vendor at to optimize their business goals.

Event Organizers: This user group often rely on social media, word-of-mouth, and pre-existing knowledge, Searching for a new pool of business requires extensive exploration.

After analyzing the interview, we grouped pain points and topics to create the affinity diagram, and sketched out solutions quickly in an attempt to generate many novel ideas for later prototype.

We first created a rough draft of the user flow on white board, focusing on the initial login and sign-up processes. Later, we developed it into a full digital version on Figjam to guide our prototype process.

User needs and our application’s goals widely influenced our design decisions. However, during our design process we found out that trying to include every function did not work well. We eventually narrowed down our scope and made the following key changes:

Including a separate interface for Event Organizer. incorporating features tailored to each user type based on their preferences.
More straight forward, less like social media. We eventually removed Messages and Following feature to make it more event centered.
More personalized suggestions such as Events For You or Shops You Might Like to save time and streamline decision making.
