Challenge
During holidays, sometimes feelings of grief and loss can arise when we recognize that the loved ones we have lost are no longer with us to share. People want to remember loved ones, but existing tools feel either too public, too complex, or emotionally overwhelming.

I teamed with my following classmates, Jingting Wang. My contribution as a UX designer and Branding designer is to create brand’s visual identity, research persona and concepts, and develop prototype.

People navigating grief, especially in later stages like bargaining and depression, lack a private and supportive space to reflect, and feel connected without pressure. Many existing platforms either focus on productivity or public sharing, leaving little room for quiet healing.
We learned from the Lofi-Prototype that we should:
Keep information architecture simple to keep users focus on the memorization/ reflection process
Watch out language usage in-app to make the users feels more engaged with the universe concept
Add community interaction features with family members
Keep the overall experience private and simple, giving user a calming space to hea
Stardust is a mobile app that lets users create digital memorials, post reflections, and share memories within small trusted circles. A galaxy inspired onboarding experience sets a calm tone from the first moment. Family and friends can gently contribute memories, turning grief into a shared act of remembrance rather than isolation.
This project reminded me that good design sometimes means stepping back. By simplifying structure and softening language, I learned how design can hold space for emotion without trying to fix it. Stardust taught me that healing does not need to be fast, loud, or social. It just needs to feel safe.
